Law Of Attraction: A Brief Explanation
The Law of Attraction is based upon the belief that you can manifest specific positive (or negative) events in your life depending on focussed positive or negative thought patterns. It is also believed that people are considered as “pure” or “source” energy.
Its Drawbacks
One of the major drawbacks with The Law Of Attraction is that there is no scientific basis behind it, there are quantifiable evidence that neither supports nor disproves its validity. The opinion and perception of The of Attraction, and it’s likely results depend on and vary from person to person which is one reason why it can be hard to apply any scientific methodology or logic to this. Other skeptics have said that any positive reports that have come to light may have done so because they have been self selected and also have also said that if positive thoughts bring positive results then the opposite should also be true in that negative thoughts will bring negative results. So accidents and illness will then be the fault of the person who thought of them and consequently manifested and brought it on themselves.
Why Is It Beneficial?
While yes, there are the drawbacks as described above, The Law of Attraction when you focus on the positive aspects can help with well-being. It can be beneficial when working alongside a meditation regimen and help promote a better outlook with life. If for example, you feel lost in your life, nothing feels or seems to be working as it should, or your life isn’t feeling right or good then The Law of Attraction can help be a catalyst for change. Looking at or approaching The Law of Attraction for the first time may instil a sense of hope, something to try and open your eyes to new possibilities that would otherwise have been overlooked.
Meditation Techniques
There are some simple techniques you can use to help you with your meditation sessions.
Set some time aside.
You should set some regular time aside to practice and meditate. Make it a part of your daily routine.
Ensure the time you set aside is free from distractions or interruptions:
Typically early in the morning, the first thing you should do is to meditate as at this time of the day there are little chances of there being distractions such as the telephone going off, your work commitments, or your normal, daily routine chores and tasks.
Try reading some books or listen to some CDs on meditation techniques for beginners:
Some useful reading material include:
Meditation for Beginners: Basic Meditation Techniques by Debra Helton
Daily Meditations 10 Minutes Everyday: A Collection of Guided Healing Meditations for Everyday Practice (Mind Body and Soul Wellness Series) by Dr Alka Khurana
Light a Candle:
Focussing on the lit and flickering candle flame while meditating can help focus the mind.
Have some slow and soothing music in the background:
Now this might not be for everyone and might be seen as a distraction but sometimes soothing music or sounds such as the sound of the sea, rain, birdsong or such like can resonate well with some people and promote a relaxing time while meditating.
Feel free to explore what works for you:
Your meditation session is tailored for you. How one person meditates may not be suitable to you or anyone else so try exploring and trying out different things. Do you feel m0re comfortable and relaxed with your eyes open or closed? As above, with or without soft music in the background.
Don’t give in and give up:
Newcomers to meditating may feel that they can’t meditate. They might feel their mind isn’t quietening enough or fast enough, or they have too many things going on in their mind. If you haven’t set some time aside specifically for meditation or if you have distractions either in your mind or around you it will be hard and you will be frustrated. This is why setting time aside and ensuring you have a quiet moment to yourself is important. When those frustrating feelings begin to grow, try not to get angry, frustrated or focus on those feelings and instead focus on your deep breathing.
Keep it going:
There will come a time when meditation, whether you notice it or not begins to slowly creep out of your daily routine. Whether this is because you can no longer find the time or feel it doesn’t fit in with your life anymore, it might be good at this time to be aware of these feelings and be aware that your meditation routine is slowly slipping away and work on it more. The benefits, although subtle can be rewarding.
